Most recently, Mr. Southern began a social movement known as BlerdOut which focuses on influencing people to accept and expose their intelligence without fear or compromise. BlerdOut is a mindset, a lifestyle. It’s where intelligence meets cool. Where you can shed boxes, throw off  what’s holding you back. Where you don’t need to dim your shine. Where your brilliance, your genius is acknowledged, nurtured, pushed to its outer limits.  While this role and other corporate positions have been a source of great productivity and professional growth, Terrence’s heart has remained close to children who are products of communities where there is restricted access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.   His own humble beginnings have fueled his passion to shed light on the possibilities of a career in the sciences for these children.   From the heartbeat of this desire, came the non-profit organization he founded called Illuminate S.T.E.M. (Sustaining Talent & Elevating Minds) where the mission is to “Illuminate The World” with diverse youthful talent in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.   ​​ ​In​ ​2012,​ ​Illuminate STEM​ ​was​ ​founded.​  ​In​ ​just​ ​7​ ​years, the​ ​organization​ ​has​ ​grown​ ​from​ ​serving​​ ​100​ ​​students​ ​to​ ​more​ ​than​ ​1,500​ ​students​ ​across​ ​the Dallas​ ​-​ ​Ft.​ ​Worth​ ​area,​ ​annually. Through this program Terrence empowers students in related areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through interactive curriculum and competitive learning concepts.  He is committed to helping young people realize their dreams.
